Caring for your Cashmere Garment

Hand Wash

It’s ideal to hand wash your cashmere with a mild detergent in cold water, turn your knit inside out to avoid fluffing, and avoid Fabric softener, as it can damage the fibres. It's also essential to avoid rubbing the fabric against itself, as this this can cause pilling. After washing, don’t wring out your sweater, and lay it flat; out of direct sunlight and heat.

Machine Wash

Cashmere can be washed in a washing machine if you have a Wool/Hand wash setting (and if you trust your machine!) Follow the steps above (turning garment inside out, small amount of gentle detergent), and place your garment in a wash bag or pillowcase. After washing, gently pull your garment back to shape and lay in a cool place (out of direct sunlight) to dry.

Other Useful Tips

If you have a brushed cashmere garment it is recommended to have it dry cleaned when nessecary. If you are un-easy about washing your non-brushed cashmere garments, then have it dry cleaned to be safe.

Remember to always check the tags on the garment as different brands have different recommendations!
